Miss. Johanna Mnisi, a 50 year old single mother of 1 who resides in Chiawelo Extension in Soweto was misled by an official from Pretoria Home Affairs.
Her Identity document issues began in April 1995 when she went to the Johannesburg Home Affairs (Market Street) to apply for her ID and only received it in June 1995. She soon noticed the misprint of her birth date. She immediately went to the Home Affairs offices in the Johannesburg CBD where she applied for her ID book for fix the fault but she was sent from pillar to post. She has been roving the Home Affairs route for over 15 years now yet her ordeal has not been resolved.
Her ordeal turned horrendous on the 12th October 2012 when she went to the Jabulani Home Affairs to apply for another ID book and was referred to the offices in Pretoria to get assistance on the application of which she did. On her arrival at the Home Affairs she was assisted by the gentlemen named Lucky Thenjwayo and Sphiwe who are the Home Affairs employees. They told her that in order for her to get a new ID book she must apply and pay a fee of R2 300 as that is how much the new ID book costs. It has been 8 months and she has never received her ID book.
